My role: UX Researcher, UI/UX Designer
Timeline: 2 weeks
Client: Iterate UX Design Challenge 2020
For the Iterate Design Challenge, we were assigned with the task of creating a an online learning platform for users affected by COVID19 over the course of 2 weeks.
Our collaboration took place virtually through google meetings and screen shares. After a brainstorming session ran on the Miro Board. We decided to create an online dance learning platform to help people engage in dance virtually with the use of AR and live dance instructors for feedback.
Many people are not able to learn dance in the traditional studio setting sense so we crafted a digital solution to help people build their dance skill while staying engaged in the dance community.
The process of learning dance has been traditionally taught in a dance studio led by an instructor able to provide real-time feedback.
Due to the current social political climate, many people are unable to begin or continue attending in-person classes and many online platforms lack the real-time feedback an in-person class would provide. Several online platforms such as YouTube and Steezy offer dance lessons through the form of videos, while Wii Fit in combination with Just Dance is more interactive.
However, these products do not help correct angles or timing issues, which is crucial for beginners. Our goal is to provide a way for beginners to easily learn and feel confident about their dance moves.

Concluding thoughts
Special thanks to Natalia, Stella, Iswaria for all the hard-work, late nights, and thoughtful discussions that occurred in this two week project. I had the chance to experience the intensive, fast-paced environment of a lean UX design process and gained important insight in teamwork, adaptability, and presentation.
This design challenge enabled me to grow as a designer, team player and form friendships. I am curious to know how viable our product will be in actuality our next steps would be to test our prototype and inspire a potential AR based dance app for the future.
